8:30 AM - 9:30 AM
Location: Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, 303 B-C
CEU: 1
Level of Presentation: Intermediate Target Audience: 9-1-1 Coordinator, Engineer/ Technician, Manager, Supervisor, Training and Education Coordinator, Consultant, Director, Information Systems, Public Safety Telecommunicator
Public Safety Emergency Communication Centers (ECC) operate using many technologies that are made up of different solutions and standards. Call Processing Equipment, CAD, and 911 call routing are the types of tools and functionalities used that operate with some degree of standardization and industry acceptance. This session outlines the architectural standards, related functionalities and challenges created by the introduction of new data sources to the ECC. Important, critical data arriving at the ECC via disparate technologies, can make it difficult for the Public Safety Telecommunicator (PST) to integrate the data into their workflow. The manner in which data flows to and within the ECC can be as important as the data itself. How the management of data impacts ECC operation and what tools and practices can be used to mitigate the impact of that data, will be a discussion topic for this panel. Lastly, the panel will discuss how to important it is to cost effectively leverage the latest technologies within the ongoing transition of Over the Top (OTT) services and NG911 Next Generation Core Services, to the ECC.
Learning Objectives:
1. Promote awareness of technological changes and evolving standards within the ECC to best make available data and how data is received, analyzed and processed by PST’s
2. ECC’s should remain vigilant of technological changes in the industry and how new information sources and process can benefit their operations. It is up to the ECC to leverage the most effective tools available while taking into consideration the critical interoperability, security and data sharing needs in the NG911 environment. Identify standards and the initial problems they solve with an eye on the future. Quite often, similar or improved information can be delivered to the ECC through different media. It is up to the ECC to determine if these alternative work products are sufficient.
3. The NG911 industry is changing. ECC’s need to be cognizant of what those changes can bring to their operation. Improved information (Ex. Location Accuracy), enhanced security and more cost-efficient network transport and data storage can all be improved with tomorrow’s technology.
