Preparing statewide GIS for NG9-1-1 starts long before an RFP hits the street. In this panel session, hear state GIS leaders tell their stories of getting data, PSAPs, and partners ready before going to RFP. Learn what to ask for, what to require, and what pitfalls to avoid so your state walks into procurement confident, informed, and ready to demand the strongest location services possible.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will be able to identify and explain three foundational GIS readiness activities (e.g., data QA/QC, governance structures, PSAP coordination) that must be completed prior to issuing an NG9-1-1 RFP.
Participants will be able to recognize and select stronger RFP requirements after evaluating sample NG9-1-1 RFP language and differentiate between baseline requirements and performance driven criteria for location accuracy, data maintenance, and validation services.
Participants will be able to produce a checklist for preliminary NG9-1-1 GIS readiness tailored to their jurisdiction, including milestones for data preparation, stakeholder engagement, and vendor expectations.
