Public Safety Telecommunicators (PSTs) are the first line of defense against cyber threats in the ECC. This session translates everyday risks like phishing, social engineering, weak credentials, and removable media and translate them into simple, repeatable habits that keep data systems resilient. Attendees will learn how to spot, stop, and escalate suspicious activity, and how human centered hygiene and reporting workflows reinforce their Cyber Incident Response Plan.
Learning Objectives:
Identify common human centered threats (phishing, social engineering, credential misuse, USB/media risks) and how they translate into ECC impact paths.
Apply a “See–Stop–Share” workflow to verify, isolate, and report incidents using the agency’s Cyber Incident Response Plan aligned to NIST SP 800 61 guidance.
Demonstrate five daily hygiene practices (i.e., strong passphrases/MFA, device locking, link/attachment inspection, clean desk discipline, and cautious privilege use) to reduce risk and sustain continuity.
