Bridging the Gap Between Public Safety and the Community

Learning Objectives:

• By the end of this session, participants will be able to clearly identify their role as 911 public educators and understand what effective community engagement looks like. They will recognize why strong community connections are essential to bridging the gap between public safety and the public. Participants will also understand the importance of transparency and accountability when representing 911 within the community.
• At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to explain the role of technology in the 911 system and communicate its importance to the community. This session will equip public educators with the knowledge and dialogue needed to stay informed about evolving technological best practices and to clearly convey these updates to the public. By helping the community understand how the 911 process works and why specific information is required during an emergency call, public educators will foster stronger communication that leads to more effective and timely emergency responses. The key outcome of this objective is the ability to practice and promote effective communication surrounding technology and its impact on public safety.
• At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to identify the importance of networking as a 911 public educator. They will understand how networking serves as an essential tool for building stronger community relationships and opening doors to share critical 911 insights. This session will equip participants with the confidence and skills needed to network effectively within their region.
