Laura Pierson – Dispatcher, Mountaineer, and Leadership Coach
With over a decade of experience as a 911 dispatcher in Portland, Oregon, Laura brings a deep well of frontline knowledge, leadership, and resilience to every room she enters. Coming from a family of first responders, dispatching is in her DNA. During her time on the floor, she served as a coach, acting supervisor, and led the 12-week dispatcher academy—mentoring new communicators through one of the most intense and rewarding careers imaginable.
Outside the comm center, Laura has pursued another high-stakes calling: mountaineering. Having summited more than 20 mountains and organized multiple trekking expeditions through the Himalayas, she’s discovered that the same traits that fuel effective dispatchers—composure, grit, adaptability—also serve her well in the wilderness.
Laura’s sessions are known for being dynamic, story-rich, and deeply engaging. Whether she’s recounting a crisis call or a climb at 14,000 feet, she invites audiences to explore the power of mindset, leadership, and personal growth. As always, her goal is not just to inform—but to inspire.
