With more than 25 years of dedicated service in emergency communications, Melanie Straeter has built her career advancing professionalism, training, and operational excellence in public safety. After beginning her professional path in the hotel industry, she transitioned into public safety with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department before joining Las Vegas Fire & Rescue, where she has served in a wide range of pivotal roles.
Over the course of her career, Melanie has contributed as a Communications Specialist, Communications Training Officer, Fire Communications Academy Instructor and Coordinator, and now as the Communications Quality Improvement Coordinator. In each position, she has championed high standards of service, continuous improvement, and innovative approaches to preparing emergency communications personnel for the evolving demands of the field.
Melanie is especially passionate about hiring, recruitment, and nurturing the next generation of public safety professionals. Recognized for her enthusiasm and her authentic investment in people, she values the relationships built through training and mentorship.
