This course provides insight on best practices for wandering and missing persons who suffer from Alzheimer's, Dementia, and Cognitive Delays. Behaviors and characteristics of wandering will be identified to enhance the telecommunicator's performance in information gathering and preparing responders with key details for a positive positive outcome in their response.
Learning Objectives:
• Learn and use person-centered communication characteristics and strategies
• Respond appropriately to dementia-related behaviors and key behaviors/characteristics on decisions they make during wandering.
• Adapt response practices during emergencies and traumatic events and provide support to caregivers and connect families with local resources
