Training Manager Raleigh-Wake Emergency Communications Raleigh, North Carolina
Drawing on the research of Shelly Gable and the Gottman Institute, this session explores how resilient relationships are built not just in adversity, but through the everyday moments of connection and celebration. Participants will learn how effective communication forms the foundation of these relationships and discover the four styles of responding—active–constructive, passive–constructive, active–destructive, and passive–destructive—and the impact each has on building or eroding relational strength.
Learning Objectives:
Explain the connection between relationships and resilience by identifying how supportive interpersonal connections strengthen the ability to adapt and recover from challenges.
Describe how communication serves as the foundation of effective relationships and recognize its role in fostering trust, understanding, and collaboration.
Differentiate among the four styles of responding (active–constructive, passive–constructive, active–destructive, and passive–destructive) and analyze their impact on relationship quality and resilience.
