The presentation will outline the imperative need for public safety organizations to ensure their IT networks and 911 centers can sustain a long-term (30+ days) Global Positioning Systems (GPS) disruption with the employment of mitigation strategies necessary to strengthen and maintain secure, functioning, and resilient public safety networks and emergency communications. The presentation will also address various threats and vulnerabilities to GPS signals, and the necessary cooperation between the federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial (FSLTT) governments, and critical infrastructure organizations to ensure sustainable Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) systems that support local and national economies.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this session participants will better understand the evolving threats and vulnerabilities to GPS signals and PNT network systems.
At the conclusion of this session participants will comprehend the inherent need for organizations to consider alternative timing solutions beyond the sole reliance of GPS during disruptions.
At the conclusion of this session participants will be aware of mitigation strategies including the PNT Conformance Framework and the employment of Federal PNT Services Acquisitions Guidance.
