Mentoring from the Front Line, explores how all dispatchers can elevate their peers and shape the future of emergency communications through intentional/organic mentorship, leadership, and example. Drawing from real-world experiences, this presentation provides a firsthand look at the life of a dispatcher -- the stressors, the triumphs, and the emotional toll — and how mentoring within the console environment can enhance retention, resilience, and performance across the comm center.
Learning Objectives:
Who can mentor? At the end of the session participants will realize that all levels in dispatch have value in their contributions and be able to mentor from early on in their dispatch careers.
What are the benefits of mentoring from the frontline? Participants will leave with the facts and statics on how mentoring can increase retention, help morale, increase job satisfaction, and other key points.
Points to ponder on starting a mentoring program. Participants will leave with knowledge of the challenges in starting a mentoring program or being a mentor, with some real time solutions for those things. They will leave knowing the multiple types of mentoring and perhaps have chosen the path they would like to take in their mentoring journey.
