Dawn is a public safety dispatcher with 15 years of experience including supervisory roles, dispatching police and multiple fire agencies in Edmond, Oklahoma. She has been a member of NENA for 11 years. Dawn holds current certifications as a Registered Public Safety Leader, Communications Training Officer through APCO, and OK-First weather. Her passions include peer-to-peer support which she worked diligently instituting a program in her center and mentoring at all levels. She is currently creating a mentoring team program to include frontline dispatchers through upper management as she believes all levels of mentoring to be a great asset to the profession. Through her RPL courses she starting serving on APCO Committees to include the Member Awards Committee, Professional Development Events Committee and Historical Committee. She has served as Historian for her local chapter of APCO International, in conjunction with two years service on the APCO, International Historical Committee including time as the vice chair. She currently facilitates RPL courses through APCO international twice a year. With her passion for mental health, Dawn has previously presented QPR, a suicide prevention training and has been ASIST trained. She has also presented suicide prevention training for dispatchers at her state conference.
