David J. Odom serves as the Director of the Tallahassee–Leon County Consolidated Dispatch Agency (CDA), a nationally recognized consolidated 9-1-1 communications center serving law enforcement, fire, and EMS agencies across Florida’s capital region. With more than 30 years of public-safety leadership, Director Odom brings extensive experience spanning police operations, tactical response, emergency management, and communications command. Before leading the CDA, he served with the Tallahassee Police Department as an executive command-staff officer and Operations Bureau Commander, overseeing 220 personnel and managing major incidents, tactical operations, and inter-agency coordination.
As a U.S. Coast Guard Investigative Service Special Agent (Reserve) and former Florida Army National Guard NCO, Odom has deployed for both natural and man-made disasters and holds state credentials as an Operations Section Chief with the Florida Division of Emergency Management.
His career is distinguished by numerous commendations, including the Committee of 99 Distinguished Career Service Award, Medal of Bravery, and Meritorious Service Medal. Director Odom is a graduate of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Chief Executive Seminar and Leadership Academy, and he continues to advance a culture of operational excellence, accountability, and servant leadership across Florida’s public-safety community.
